- July 25 - Gen. Wesley Merritt and Army arrive to take Manila with the help of Aguinaldo
- Aug. 12 - Spanish-American armistice signed (Cuba free, cede P.R. & Guam, occupy Manila)
- Aug. 14 - Merritt's assault on Manila complete and Spanish forces in the Philippines surrender to U.S. Army and Aguinaldo's forces
- Sept. 5 - Malolos Constitution, Aguinaldo govt.
- Oct. 1 - Paris talks - McKinley sends instructions to seek only Luzon
- Oct. 24 - "duty, destiny, Dewey" - "nothing left for us to do but take them all... to uplift and Christianize them"
- Dec. 6 - George Vest Resolution (no colonies) proposed by anti-imperialists but defeated in Senate
- Dec. 10 - all Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam ceded; Cuba free
- Feb. 6, 1899 - Treaty of Paris ratified bu U.S, Congress 57-27
- Feb. 4 - Philippine Insurrection begins and lasts until July 4, 1902 - cost of $400m., 4200 U.S., 220,000 filipino dead
- Feb. 17 - Anti-Imperialist League from 30 states

- Mar. 31, 1899 - U.S. Army captured Malolos
- Mar. 23, 1901 - Gen. Fred Funston captured Aguinaldo
