Woodrow Wilson was the first president to hold regular press conferences starting March 22, 1913. In his 96 months in office, he held 157 conferences. FDR would hold 1020 in 145 months, and Reagan would hold only 46 in 96 months. He allowed the press to continue using the press room built by Thoedore Roosevelt during the renovation of the White House in 1902. Wilson was the first president to appear in the newsreels.
