• Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow New York, founded by the carpenter Frederick Philipse in 1693, but lost by the family at the end of the Revolution because his descendants were Loyalists and fled to England. The Manor includes the water-powered Gristmill that was run by the master flour miller Caesar who was an African slave
