George Kimball was the first postmaster in 1870, working out of the front room of his house at 1515 L Avenue. In the 1880s the post office was located in the Boyd Building on McKinley Avenue, then in the K of P Building, or Granger Block, on the corner of 8th Street and National Avenue from 1898 to 1922. The interior of this post office shows S. S. Johnston, postmaster, sitting at his desk with his assistant, Mrs. Mary McDaniel Copeland. The next location was at 838 National Avenue from 1922 to 1932.
