South Bay Plaza

South Bay Plaza shopping center was the second shopping center to be built in the county, dedicated in 1954, following the smaller Linda Vista center that opened in 1943. The first store that opened in the Plaza was the Mayfair Market, followed by J. C. Penney, W. T. Grant, Woolworth's and 40 other stores.
