Accelerated Reader

Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes independently each night. They should be reading from an appropriately leveled chapter book, approved by the teacher to correspond with their assigned AR level. Use the links to the right to access the AR system and see available tests.

Classroom Novels

We will also be reading novels in class. These novels do not count toward the assigned number of pages per month that you are reading independently. Students will be taking AR tests on books read in class as part of their Reading grade. These tests do not count toward the assigned number of tests that you are expected to complete independently each month.

Students will use classroom novels to study vocabulary and practice reading strategies. The standards require the progressive development of reading comprehension so that students advancing through the grades are able to gain more from whatever they read.
